High School Mobilization: an "Act V" on October 13, between union support and uncertain participation
Lyceans, students and educational staff are expected to demonstrate this Tuesday, October 13, 2026. Time use, state of buildings and means of teaching remain at the heart of the demands. While the Department notes a decline in closures, the magnitude of this new national day remains unknown. [S1] [S2] [S3]

A fifth day of high school mobilization was announced on Tuesday 13 October 2026, with demonstrations, calls for strikes and blockages. Liberation and Le Monde describe the same national meeting, with the participation of high school students, students and staff in education and higher education. East Republican enlightens one of the central demands: a course organization deemed too restrictive by the students mobilized. No national record of participation for this Tuesday is yet included in the information consulted. [S1] [S2] [S3]
National demonstrations, claims that join
Processions are announced in Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Lille, Toulouse and Bordeaux. In the capital, Liberation indicates a departure place from Italy at 2 p.m. In Alsace, the Last News of Alsace report two events declared, with a meeting place Kléber in Strasbourg at 10.30 a.m. and place de la Bourse in Mulhouse at 2 p.m. These announcements describe the program of the day, not yet its actual influx. The support of staff unions is accompanied by own demands. In Besançon, maCommune.info reports a joint call from FSU 25, CGT Educ Their requests include job creation, salaries, working conditions and renovations. This rapprochement joins the one described in Alsace, where the teaching organisations add the pay issue to the concerns of high school students. [S4] [S5]
Time schedules at the centre of discontent
The claims identified by Libération combine improvements in time uses, renovation of buildings and removal of Parcoursup. An additional indicator is provided by the Republic of East: 71 per cent of the contributions to the Government's consultation platform mention difficulties in using time. This figure covers the contributions collected, and therefore does not constitute a measure of the opinion of all high school students. [S1] [S2]
Interviewed by the regional daily, Nicolas Bonnet, National Secretary of SNPDEN-Unsa, describes unbalanced days, lessons starting early or late, off-peak hours and sometimes too short lunch breaks. He explains that the articulation between common trunk and specialty groups, resulting from the reform of 2019, complicates the construction of planning. According to him, the late knowledge of trainee faculty assignments has added a difficulty this year. [S2]
There are also reservations about the replacement response. Liberation reports that national education hoped to mobilize 3,024 holders in the replacement area by Tuesday, with, if necessary, school support when their discipline does not match the missing course. In DNA, an Unsa-Education official is critical of this possible mismatch. This is a trade union challenge to the effectiveness of the scheme, not an established assessment of its deployment. A decrease in closures, but no balance sheet of Act V
The ministry highlights 130 establishments closed Monday, compared to 172 Friday, according to Libération. He sees it as a step backward. The newspaper points out, however, that the number of establishments disturbed by blockages is not specified: the only count of closures does not allow to describe all forms of mobilisation. [S1]
Previous processions provide another, distinct landmark. Le Monde recalls that the Ministry of the Interior had recorded 71,500 demonstrators on 8 October, compared with some 266,000 on 6 October. For the last day, high school organizers and students claimed 450,000 participants. These figures relate to previous days and do not prejudge participation this Tuesday. [S3]
In Alsace, the testimonies gathered by the DNA reflect a persistent support but also hesitation: a union leader evokes the financial cost of the strike, while the president of the FCPE of Bas-Rhin describes parents divided between solidarity and the desire to resume the courses. Liberation also mentions the objective of a link with the mobilization against expensive life on Saturday, October 17. This perspective remains a separate deadline, not an acquired result of "Act V".
